Civil Department

Overview

Civil engineering is the application of physical and scientific principles for solving the problems of society, and its history is intricately linked to advances in the understanding of physics and mathematics throughout history. Because civil engineering is a wide-ranging profession, including several specialized sub-disciplines, its history is linked to knowledge of structures, materials science, geography, geology, soils, hydrology, environment, mechanics and other fields. Throughout ancient and medieval history most architectural design and construction was carried out by artisans, such as stonemasons and carpenters, rising to the role of master builder. Knowledge was retained in guilds and seldom supplanted by advances. Structures, roads, and infrastructure that existed were repetitive, and increases in scale were incremental.

Objectives

The point is how you important you think your job is, whether as a Civil Engineer or any other profession. What I think is that as a Civil Engineer I have been blessed with the knowledge of creating almost all the basic infrastructure. Say, you are at the end of an apocalypse, everything is leveled. You would be the only one the rest of the world will look up to at that instant. It is The power of creation, the protege of God. Think of it this way.

Career

Civil engineers also must present their findings to the public on topics such as bid proposals, environmental impact statements, or property descriptions. Many civil engineers hold supervisory or administrative positions ranging from supervisor of a construction site to city engineer, public works director, and city manager. As supervisors, they are tasked with ensuring that safe work practices are followed at construction sites. Other civil engineers work in design, construction, research, and teaching.
